Theme

I think that the theme of the book A Child Called "It" is that children who are being abused should speak up, they shouldnt put up with all that suffering and torturing. They should live happy as there kids because were not kids the whole life and we have to live our childhoood. They should talk to an adult maybe at school so they can get some help. In the book, Dave was too afraid to speak up becuse he knew if his mom found out that he was trying to escape from her, he would get punished really badly with one of her games.

  1. nice job on your theme, Maria. It sounds like you are on the right track with this. Yes, Dave should have spoken up and asked for help, but the fact that no one seemed to believe him or clue into the fact of what was going on seems remarkable as well. It seems that very few people- teachers, aides, principals, counselors, and even other students and parents- were paying attention. And that's really sad, too.
